What makes Sugar Rush so different from other wedding cake suppliers?
One of the main reasons our clients choose us is the taste. You just can’t beat cakes and sweets made from scratch! We use only the very finest ingredients, including Belgium Couverture Chocolate. Beyond that, the individual attention given to each and every client means that every wedding cake is unique and one-of-a-kind. There’s no catalogue to select from; the design is literally created for you during your tasting. The client plays a central role in our designs, and the result is a wedding cake that suits you to a T. So why not give us a call, and see what we can create together!
How much does a cake from Sugar Rush cost?
The average 2-tier cake at Sugar Rush cake costs between $350-500 and can feed up to 100 guests.
The average 3- tier cake costs between $450-750 and can feed anywhere from 130-170 guests.
Sculpted and Grooms cakes start at $5.00/ coffee slice. These can be done to look like just about anything, and therefore are costed out on a cake by cake basis.
Cupcakes start at $3.50/ cupcake for a swirl buttercream design. Buttercream flower designs are $4.50 each. Fondant decorations tend to add about $1.00 - $2.00 to the base cupcake price.
Cupcake Bouquets are available as approximately 32-36 mini cupcakes to feed approx 12-18 guests for $95.00/ bouquet
Individual Cookie favors and brownie packs are priced depending in the serving size you intend to give to guests. A single sugar cookie decorated and wrapped in cello start at $4.00/ favor, and name place-card cookies are $5.00/ favor. Brownie favors range between $4.00 - 6.00/ favor.
Do you have a minimum cake order?
Cupcakes can be ordered in any amount over 2 dozen. Custom celebration cakes start at $200. Wedding and tiered cakes are a $300 minimum.
What are your delivery options?
Special orders can be picked up personally, or personally delivered to your location. Delivery starts at $35.00 for Newcastle/ Maitland area, $50.00 for Pokolbin, and Nelson Bay and $80 for the Central Coast.
Currently, we are servicing the Newcastle, Maitland, Hunter Valley, Central Coast and Upper Hunter areas of Australia. If you are planning your event for Sydney, please contact us so we can discuss your delivery options. All wedding cakes are delivered by owners/ principal decorators, Vanessa or Jon, so as to make sure your cake arrives in perfect condition.
Do you charge for your tasting sessions?
We do not charge a fee for any wedding tasting session. If you are requiring a tasting session for a special occasion cakes, the cake order must be a minimum of $300. Tasting dates are set several times each month. Please check our main page for details.
If you need to cancel your tasting appointment for any reason, you can do so, provided you give 24hrs notice. If you do not give sufficient notice, you will be charged $25 for the rescheduled second tasting appointment. This is due to the fact that we only serve fresh cakes to our clients; and thus, these cakes are made just for you.
Can I contact you and save the date of our event in your calendar?
Yes you can. We require a $100 non-refundable deposit to save the date in our calendar.
Once I receive a design and quote, what sort of deposit do I need to pay?
We require a 30% deposit on all cake orders once the design and quote have been finalised.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Wedding cakes usually need 3-6 months notice, however in peak season, you may need to book in earlier, say 6-12 months in some cases. Party cakes and cupcakes can be booked only weeks in advance. Please note that last minute bookings can sometimes be accepted, depending on the exact date. So please give us a call and see what we can do.
Do you make fondant Bride and Groom cake toppers?
No. Instead, we have an amazingly talented artist by the name of Michelle Kludas, who creates wooden Bride and Groom wedding cake toppers that are simply stunning. They will be available to purchase to go atop of our wedding cakes, or own their own if you live out of our service area, or overseas. They start at $80 with many options to choose from.
